Health insurance
I was told that I either could get insurance through Blue Cross/Blue Shield, which doesn't cover outpatient mental health services, or other insurance that won't cover my preexisting condition for a year. Of course, my preexisting condition is the main reason that I need health insurance.
Most states have a "high-risk pool" that covers people with preexisting conditions, but Michigan isn't one of them.
I thought about not getting health insurance because paying full price for care for my preexisting condition plus health insurance will be very, very expensive. However, Mom pointed out that I could get a broken leg or something. So I guess that I have no choice.
The best thing that I could do is get a job with health insurance. Pronto.
This is really frustrating because I'm working to manage my health problems and be a productive citizen, but the system isn't cooperating. I'm not surprised that a lot of people wind up on the streets.
