Hoofing It

I wound up napping more than I had planned (so what else is new). When I got up, I threw myself together and walked to the library. It was okay. There is a slightly scary part in which there are no sidewalks near where I live. Few streetlights too. Whenever a car would go by, I got off the road in case they didn't see me. Once I got on the main drag of Lincoln, it was okay. Some spots were so dark, though, that I had problems seeing the sidewalk.

When I got there, I had a "I am woman; hear me roar!" moment. I was a little dismayed, though, that it took me a half-hour to walk 1.3 miles. Yes, I'm out of shape.

I think that I'd want to get into work earlier if I'm going to walk. I think that the walk would be kind of creepy when it's deserted late at night.

Sometime this weekend, I want to take out the bicycle and practice riding it (and, no doubt, amuse my neighbors).

I hope you had a good flashlight. Otherwise you might be almost impossible for drivers to see.

Good. I see far too many people walking along roads at night around here wearing dark clothes with no flashlights. It's damned hard for drivers to see them except at the very last minute when it's almost too late.
