Scandals of Classic Hollywood

I've been hooked on a blog about actors and actresses in classic movies, Scandals of Classic Hollywood. It isn't just about gossip (although there is some), but discusses their lives from a modern perspective. The article about Dorothy Dandridge will break your heart. She was talented and smokin' hot, but her life went to hell. Damn Hollywood and damn racism. Anyway, I recommend the site if you want to read something different. The comments are sometimes interesting too. (At least, I found it interesting that I'm not the only one who finds Warren Beatty off-putting.) [livejournal.com profile] ravengirl, you might enjoy the site because you like movies.

A New Way to Save Money?

I just learned that I can get the New York Times on my Kindle for substantially less than I pay for the print version. And back issues won't pile up if I get behind on my reading. The down side is that it isn't as nice as the print version and doesn't have illustrations. Some sections are left out. However, it also comes with a subscription to the online version of the New York Times, so I can read the left-out sections and print articles there. Also, Time magazine (to which I also subscribe) is available for only $2.99 a month (also substantially cheaper). Time for the Kindle is getting panned, but I think that I should do this to save money. Eventually I'd like to get a Kindle Fire and read both of them on it. The versions for the Kindle Fire are much nicer and include photos, videos, etc.
