24-Hour Fitness

I just joined 24-Hour Fitness. The local branch is indeed open 24 hours (not all are); it's two miles from my condo and six miles from work; it has a lot of machines, free weights (should I ever decide to lift free weights), and a cute little pool that'll do for swimming laps. (The pool is smaller than the Y's by one lane. Big deal. And I don't freeze my buns off when I get out of the pool!) It also has that guest agreement with health clubs across the country. The price was reasonable. And I felt surprisingly comfortable there. I had to work to find something wrong with it; it doesn't seem to have a back extension machine, and it doesn't have the online system that the Y has that keeps track of what you do and shows you the bounds of the movement that you should make. I can live with those limitations.

I'm pleased.

They STILL don't have the online system!??? I wonder why. I'm glad you're happy and hope you continue enjoying swimming! :) Most of the 24HF around me don't have pools and are kinda built in some forgotten corner of a not so hot mall so it sounds like you have a great one! Have a great holiday!

I wonder why they don't have the online system too. They're pretty wired otherwise. Oh well, there's always paper and pencil -;)

It's a brand new facility (built within the last couple of years), so it's pretty nice.

The strip mall that it's in is nothing special, but the strip mall is in a great location.
