Well, that's one of my big concerns. Another drug (Depakote) caused me to start to fall asleep driving (eyes closed, car drifting) once, but since I cut back the dose, I haven't had problems with it. As for the Risperdal, I've had to focus on staying awake sometimes, but it hasn't gone as far as the time with the Depakote. Also, my coordination and timing for driving is somewhat messed up.

I live in the sticks and really need to drive too. My only alternative would be working from home and having stuff delivered. I'm not sure if I want a life in which I never leave the house. On the other hand, most of the drives that I do (except for the drive to the Santa Clara Kaiser) are short hops of 5 - 15 minutes in length.

Hmmm, I really need to give up on the cat deal. It strikes me that I-5 down to L.A. is an excellent place to fall asleep driving, with disastrous consequences. Ouch, giving it up kind of hurts.
