My inlaws lived in The Cypress in Hilton Head - part of Hilton Head Plantation, which is where we live when we're there. They moved in when it was brand new (in the 1990s) and built a house for themselves. (I'm not sure there are available lots to build on now -- you'd have to purchase an already-built house or condo) They lived independently until they needed nursing care, Ray's father in The Preston Health Center and Ray's mom in the Dogwood Memory Care Center. They'd go to the dining room for the evening meal each night, and the food was good. We used to go with them weekly to Sunday brunch.

I also believe they managed to keep Covid at a minimum by invoking strict standards - and that says something knowing what happened in other senior centers. Also -- they have a hurricane evacuation plan in place for all residents if and when needed. It was never needed when my inlaws lived there (although we wondered several times), but I think it was put in place when Hurricane Matthew hit the island in 2016.

It was a good place when my inlaws were there, although I don't know if it's as good as the place has gotten older. We haven't visited since they died (in 2008 and 2009)
