Yes, my lilacs do the same thing as meowmensteen's, but that's not the problem I have with them. In fact I like that they send up sprouts because I want them to cover the entire fence (I have seven of them along one side. ) But we have to spray them for fungus in early summer every year. Luckily, once seems to do it.
