Well...I did get out-;)
Sep. 15th, 2001 11:49 pmHad a bit of excitement when I first woke up this morning (well, afternoon).
After I woke up and uncrossed my eyes, I stumbled into the kitchen to make myself breakfast and feed the cat. However, I smelled gas.
I discovered that one of the burners on the stove had been on all night, spewing gas, without being lit. I turned it off, opened all the windows, turned off the air conditioner, moved my cat into my bedroom (which is the opposite end of the place from the kitchen), and decided that getting out of there for a while sounded like a really, really good plan.
However, I hadn't taken a shower in a couple of days (TMI, but relevant), so I decided that I had to take at least a really quick shower. Then I realized that if I took a normal shower, then the (gas) hot water heater would go on.
So I took a shower with only cold water. Fastest shower that I've ever taken in my life. Had a nice rosy glow afterwards-;)
After the fact, I realized that the cold shower might not have been necessary because the pilot light on the stove and hot water heater was on, and the a/c was on during the night. If my place was going to blow up, it probably would have done so while I slept. Cheerful thought.
I went out and not only ran my normal weekend errands, but ran all those errands that I've been putting off too.
When I came back, yes, my place was in one piece. It's good to be back home-;)
