The good thing about staying home sick was that I could be with the cats during the first day of the roof work. Harlee at first was brave, looking out the window at the workers standing on my deck, but clung to me much of the time when I was awake. (She was cute lying under my chair with her nose sticking out.) Nima somehow managed to sleep through most of the work except when the work first started. (On the other hand, I managed to sleep through some of it too.) Random was somewhere in-between the two.
The workers used my deck as some sort of staging area. They moved my plants around, put down wood to protect the deck (probably a good thing), and stomped around. However, I was amused by my strong territorial impulse to kick them off of my deck (and tell them to leave my plants alone!) I don't like that helpless feeling.
Not sure if I'm going to come into work tomorrow or not. Mostly I'm feeling better than I was, but I tried eating "normal" food (Chunky soup), and it didn't sit well at all. I'm alternating between feeling exhausted and feeling okay. Ordinarily, I'd work from home tomorrow, but I'm not sure how well I'll be able to concentrate with the roof work going on. Maybe I'll try it, and go into the lab if it's too noisy.
