Away to go

It's about time to pack the laptop. I have a few more things to do, but I might get a short nap. (I need to get up at 3:30 AM.) I've decided to risk the possibility that I might not wake up because the extra sleep will really help when I'm driving at the other end. I think that I'll probably wake up because along with the normal arsenal of alarms and vibrating alarm, I'm going to set a couple of wake-up calls. If the calls don't work, my neighbors rushing in to kill me probably will -;)

I'll also sleep on the plane.

It's really hard to leave the cats. I know intellectually that they'll be okay, but something in me is saying "What are you doing leaving your babies?" I know that they'll be scared of the pet sitter too, and I wish that I could explain to them what's going on.

Wish me luck for the flight. We're supposed to be landing in a thunderstorm in Raleigh. Those are the only flying conditions that scare me. Driving to the hotel should be memorable too.

I made it here after uneventful flights. As it turns out, it wasn't even raining. It was a lovely approach to the Raleigh-Durham airport. The area was doing a kind of Bali Ha'i routine; it was cloudy, and through the holes in the clouds, you could see the great forest that Raleigh et al are carved out of. (Reminds me a little of the Great North Woods around Wisconsin.) I kept envisioning the forest taking over some many years from now, masking buildings and highways.
