Quick and not-so-dirty update
Mar. 1st, 2004 01:16 amI hoped that Bill Murray would win an Oscar. Bah.
The big news of the week is that I enrolled in the Dale Carnegie class. Right now, I'm fighting a mild cold, so driving to north Sunnyvale once a week sounds dubious, but I'm sure it'll be fine. The class starts on March 16th.
I went to my first Weight Watchers meeting. It was okay. The only thing is that the leader told us not to count exercise for two weeks, and I yelped because I really need to eat a little extra with all the exercise I do. (45 minutes exercise bicycle, 15 minutes rowing, 30 minutes of Nautilus, and a half-hour of swimming three times a week. Oh, and Pilates for a hour one night a week.) She said that I could count it if I wanted to. The group doesn't have enough members yet, so we'll see if it continues.
I just made my inaugural meal in the slow cooker. The only thing is that it took a lot of prep time (I made Beef Stroganoff), so I probably won't make it very often. It smells and tastes good though.
I haven't been getting enough done on the place, and I've got to find a way to do more. (For one thing, I don't think that I'll be cooking often because I need the time for the place.) I'd like to take a long weekend off or something like that to work on it, but I don't think that I'll be able to until our book goes out. (However, another writer managed to take vacation and a personal holiday, but there's a lot less to do on her book before it goes out for review. Somehow that doesn't seem quite fair.) I need to find a way to get some stuff done during the week.
I'll be very glad when Tuesday's election is over; my phone has been ringing off the hook. I think that I might register as an independent to lose the phone calls.
Addendum: I have a lot of Nightingale-Conant tape programs and some other programs on tape. I don't get a chance to listen to them much, so I brought a Walkman to the gym. The gym blasts techno music, so I wasn't sure how well I be able to hear the tape. However, I was able to hear, although it sounded like the speaker was superimposed on the music, which was a little surreal. That means that I have 4.5 hours a week when I can listen to the tapes. Terrific!
