Flotsam and jetsam
Apr. 10th, 2004 04:39 pmThis weekend is more of same as last weekend, only saner because I started my Dale Carnegie homework earlier. I think that my weekends will be pretty well booked from here on out.
I talked to my Chicago friend about what I should do with my life, and he thinks that I should get a Master's in Instructional Technology AND an M.B.A in Project Management (and a PhD in Technical Communications). He commented that project management skills are useful no matter what you do, and I see his point (too well, otherwise I wouldn't have gotten into this dilemma). He has three Master's degrees, so the non-stop school doesn't phase him -;) Before I can apply for an M.B.A. program, I'd need to study Accounting, Finance, Marketing, and Macroeconomics. (I took Microeconomics at San Jose State and did quite well.) DeAnza College has most of those classes online. First, though I need to study for the GRE for the Instructional Technology degree. I read something that said that you should take the GRE three months before the application date, which means that I've blown it; I'm not going to be ready to take the GRE in two weeks. Now I'm wondering if I should apply to start during Spring session. Some other schools that I'm interested in have application dates around the same time for the following Fall session.
I'm mysteriously getting the Wall Street Journal. At first, I thought that my dad bought it for me, but I received a postcard from them referring to a "student subscription." Now I'm wondering if it has something to do with Dale Carnegie. I'm actually not thrilled about it because I have enough stuff to read. I've been giving it a bemused look and dumping it onto a pile.
One more week until I go on vacation for a week. Cool beans.
