Everything came off today as planned.
The piano looks at home already.
It was fascinating to watch the piano mover at work. He was this big muscley guy who looked like Hercules if Hercules was kind of short. Yet he moved with incredible delicacy, precision, and patience. (I suppose that makes sense; if people shell out tons of money for a piano, they don't want it scratched.) Nice guy too.
The piano is awesome. I'm going to be very, very happy with it. I've been really enjoying having its demo loop on in the background, so I want to download more songs and use it as a player piano as well as play it. The cats like to hang out near it, so apparently all family members approve of it.
Random helping me disassemble the dining room table
The two young women who took away the old furniture were really good too. At first, I couldn't stand being useless, and I brought a small item down to their truck too. But then they ran into some problems getting a chair out, knocked some books over and started bickering, so I decided that my presence was making matters worse, and went away to go play with the piano. I didn't know how they were going to get the old computer desk out--it was wedged between a table and a filing cabinet--but they disassembled it fast.
The guys who delivered the new computer desk and lateral file seemed kind of cranky about having to bring them upstairs, but hey, I did warn them when I bought it that I live upstairs.
I didn't get a chance to assemble the desk yet; I wound up collapsing. There's a lot of stress and hissing between Random and Harlee because I had to shut them in the same room again. Random is needing an unusual amount of reassurance. I'm going to work from home and hopefully help keep them calm.
