Maybe I need to call an exorcist?
Nov. 30th, 2004 01:41 amI swear that I'm jinxed right now. First, shortly after my mom got here, I drove my car too close to the shelving in the garage and knocked it down.
Then when my mom and I were moving the desk after assembling it, this box-like thing that serves as the legs on one side got pulled off, widening the holes around the cam bolts that attach the box to the bottom of the desk. My mom tried to drive the bolts farther into the bottom of the desk, and we put wood cement around them, but it's still coming off. We think that we (I) need to use plastic wood or some equivalent to seal the holes and redrill them, and use L-shaped braces to take some of the stress. I'm going to consult with Erik, but I'd appreciate any thoughts that you might have about how to fix it. The bottom line is that right now the desk is lying on the floor of my home office in big pieces. (The cats love it.)
And now my personal laptop won't boot up. It doesn't get far enough to start booting the operating system, but issues an error "Invalid RFID Configuration Information Area" and says to press F1 to set up the BIOS. I've fiddled with it to no avail. So I just bought a refurbished Dell Latitude C610 to replace it. (The old one was an IBM ThinkPad, but I can't afford to buy IBM.) The thing is that the timing is really bad, so I can't spend any money in December other than my normal expenses. (I'm glad that I've already bought my Christmas presents.) And I really should sell a bunch of stuff on eBay and Amazon. Soon.
Addendum: Oh, I forgot that the showerhead in my shower is squirting water towards the ceiling and walls. I tightened it up a little, which should help, but it really needs to be replaced.
