After my voice lesson in San Francisco, I went to see the Sacred and Profane chorus in Walnut Creek (a town in the northeast East Bay that I had never been to). I took the BART train from San Francisco to Walnut Creek. Then I had a walk of about a half-mile to the church in which the concert was being held. Part of the walk was a little scary; there were no sidewalks, hardly any streetlights--and I brilliantly had decided to be stylish and wear black. However, I made it there in one piece.

The chorus was good; it had a nice sound, but wasn't quite as crisp as the San Jose Symphonic Chorus. The chorus was small, about 20 people. There was a guest soloist (tenor) who had a terrific voice and was quite proficient at Latin, French, and Spanish. However, a few people in the chorus also had small solos, which I liked.

They gave a reception afterward for the audience, but I was anxious to get back, so I left. I was able to transfer trains without a hitch and make it back to Fremont, where I left my car on the way to San Francisco. I'm learning to appreciate BART more and more. I wish they'd hurry up and build the extension to San Jose.

On the other hand, I suffer from motion sickness. My stomach has been doing flip-flops through much of the day, and is refusing to stop. I need to lie down after I finish this.

So I enjoy the concerts, but they take a lot out of me. I'm questioning whether I'll be able to see three concerts next weekend as planned. I wish that the choruses wouldn't all have concerts at the same time. I'd like to see as many choruses as possible because I'd feel funny trying out for a chorus that I hadn't seen perform.

Apropos of nothing, I had to post the following link:
