I don't multitask as well as I used to
Dec. 7th, 2007 11:40 pmWell, I'm done with Manpower. After spending about 1.5 hours there on Wednesday and more time today, they told me that I was in the wrong office. The "Manpower Professional" office was upstairs. I went up there and had a five-minute interview. I'm not holding my breath. I told the interviewer that I've worked at companies that ranged from <name of very large company> to startup companies. I told her that I had written documentation that included user's guides, administration guides, installation guides, tutorials, and online help. She came back with "Have you written any manuals?" (headdesk) I said, "Well, yeah, I have 18 years of experience in writing manuals." She gave me the strong impression of someone who was in way over her head.
I kept the forms that I filled out in the other office in case I want to temp in an administrative role. The only problem with doing so is that I need my days free for interviews.
While I was at Manpower, the recruiter who wanted to set up a phone interview called me. I didn't pick up, of course. The weird thing was at first I saw the voicemail indicator on my cell phone. But by the time I went to listen to the message, it was gone. I picked up the message at home, but by that point, it was 10:30. I'll call tomorrow on the off chance that he'll listen to his messages on the weekend.
I spent some time looking at laptops at Best Buy tonight, and know what I would get were I to get one. Now all I need is a job -;)
I'm probably going to go my mom's house over Christmas and New Year's Day. The trip hinges on my finding a pet sitter though. So tomorrow, I need to call the recruiter, pet sitters, and get to the dry cleaner before it closes. I need to vacuum if a pet sitter is going to come over. I also need to fix a broken string on one of my guitars and tune it. I want to sell the guitar, and now's the time to do it. It doesn't sound like much, but my gears are crashing. I've been getting used to the luxury of doing one thing at a time. Yikes, the trip to my mom's house would be slightly over two weeks from now.
Oh, I need a key made for the pet sitter....
