I woke up early this morning to find my power off. I wondered if there was an outage, or if my automatic payment didn't go through (although they usually call before they shut off power). So I called PG&E. Their voice recognition software didn't understand when I said "outage" and put me on hold to wait for a representative. The cool part, though, was that I could enter my phone number, and they would call me back in the order that I was on hold. And they did call. The rep confirmed the outage and gave me an estimated time for it to be fixed. I went back to sleep and the power was back on when I woke up again.
I'm glad that the damage doesn't seem to be too bad in New Orleans. I've been following Anderson Cooper's blog on CNN.
