It's a girl! We adopted Dash (http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/14964837), who probably will be called Zara, today. She's very calm; she even let me hold her for a little while for a picture when we adopted her. She also has spunk; she went exploring after we bought her home instead of hiding. Now she seems to be hiding somewhere, but she'll come out when she's ready. Harlee is hiding too, so they haven't interacted yet. I'll post pictures of Dash/Zara when I get a chance.

5:20--Zara came over to be petted briefly. She then went under the bed and met Harlee, who went "Hm?" as she does when she is surprised. No hissing though. Everything's going great....

12:09--Harlee did growl once when Zara got too close, but mostly she's just keeping an eye on Zara. Zara's come over to get petted occasionally. She's been rolling around on rugs and marking her "territory" in the hall. The adoption agency gave me a version of "da bird" on a stick, and Zara was playing a little with it. She's settling in well -;)

Hmm. I'm considering attending a professional conference in Philadelphia, but it's kind of expensive. However, it's only a 10-hour drive. Maybe I should drive and save the airfare. Parking is only $10.50 a day at the hotel that I probably would stay at. It's a thought....

Edited to add: Gas would be around $60 one-way. A hotel stop en route would be around $50.00. For reference, round-trip airfare is around $420. The train one-way is $118.50.
