I went to the gym at my apartment building tonight. My basic reaction is "eh". It has two vertical exercise bikes, but only one of them works. I tried it, and set it for intervals, but didn't really feel the resistance during the intervals. I made it through 19 minutes, but then my knee started hurting, so I stopped. The cardio area also has two recumbent bikes, two treadmills, and an elliptical trainer. No rowing machine.
Then I checked out the weight machines. They were okay, but I'm used to having a wider variety of machines. There was no leg press. Most of them also looked really old. I worked out on them for a while and then left.
I'm not really happy with this being my only gym. I should check out the college gym, the "Y," and the other gym that interested me. However this gym does have the advantage of being right here, so I have no excuse to skip exercise when it's the dead of winter and snowy.
I've set a goal to lose 45 pounds (2 clothing sizes) by the end of the year. I won't be at my ultimate target weight, but I'll be at a weight that I had for many years, and most of my clothes are at that size. (They're really nice clothes too because I had money then.)
It's really late and I need to get to sleep.
