Last night around 9:30 PM, someone knocked at my door. I tentatively answered, and a young guy was at the door, saying that someone had thrown his cell phone on the roof, and he wanted to climb from my balcony to the roof to get it. (Guy, this is a three story apartment building with a sloped roof!) I said, "No, I'm not comfortable with that." I suggested that he call the apartment maintenance folks, and he said that he had, but they weren't answering. About a half-hour later, he came back, and I said "No" again. At that point, I started turning out lights to give the idea that I was going to sleep, but I realized later that he probably lives down the hall from me and wouldn't see the lights. I wonder if he did get his phone back.
I had two movers come by today to give me an estimate. One gave me an estimate up front, and one will get back to me later in the week. I also called a couple of places about boarding the cats, but won't be able to finalize arrangements until I have a firm date for the move. They're both at animal hospitals, who will be better able to deal with Zara if she's fractious.
Speaking of cats, the good news (and the bad news) is that Harlee's abnormal liver reading has improved with the expensive food and the meds. They want to continue with the treatment. I told them that I'm going to move at the end of the month, so they'll write up what they've done so that I can give it to the new vet. (New old vet--they had a very good vet in Michigan. However, I'll need to also save that info for when I move somewhere else.)
A job has opened up for a "Technical Services Specialist" in Lincoln, IL, which is about an hour north of here. They want cataloging experience in an academic library, preferably as part of the same consortium that we belong to. So I think that I have a good shot at it. We shall see....I plan to send them a resume later tonight.
