Out of the Apartment

Everything is out of the apartment. About time. Walkthrough is tomorrow.

It doesn't say much for my current project management skills, though, that it's a couple of days late. Lesson learned: allow a full week free for packing before the movers come.

I'm annoyingly wide-awake, but I probably will fall asleep quickly when I get into bed.

Home is...?

Of course, the quote is, "Home is the place where, when you have no place to go, they have to take you in." Apparently that would make Michigan my home, although it doesn't feel like it. The question, "Where are you from?" has gotten more and more complicated.

The walkthough of the apartment went well. They didn't notice the light stain on the bedroom carpet or the worn parts of the door frame where Zara's gate was (although my mom cleverly camouflaged the worn parts with her eyebrow pencil).

Then we went back to the Lincoln Museum, and went through the entire place. When we left for the museum, I thought that I was going to be too tired to go through the entire place, but it held my attention. Again, I highly recommend it. They used multimedia well. Some highlights were a video called "The Civil War in Four Minutes" that ran though the battles and casualties during the timeline of the Civil War. Another exhibit showed what modern campaign ads for the four candidates during the election when Lincoln was first elected to the Presidency might have been like.

When we came back, we collapsed for a while, and then went out to dinner. When did the food at Applebee's become so good? We've had two terrific meals there.

Tomorrow, we need to load my mom's car with my stuff, which probably will take a while because we're trying to cram in as much as possible, and I'll have to make decisions about what to take and leave behind. Then my mom is taking off, and I'm going to run errands. I decided not to put the snow tires on my car yet because I know that I'll have to come back and get more stuff.

I also have homework to do and need to catch up on my sleep, which is my highest priority because I'm driving to Michigan on Thursday.

One of these days, I'll catch up on journal entries, especially about my last day at work, which was memorable, but who knows when exactly.
