I didn't get up early again today. When I got up, I was scrambling to make my phone calls. I got the problem with my prescription straightened out (although I need to call Walgreens on Thursday to tell them to resubmit the prescription). Apparently the WalMart in Springfield filled the prescription without my requesting it. I talked to the car rental places in Indiana and Bloomington (no one seems able to grasp that I'm not from Indiana, but was passing through), and the upshot was that I needed to come over to the car rental office in Bloomington to give them my credit card.
I scrambled to get myself together, but with one thing and another, we didn't leave the house until 2:30, and the car rental place closed at 3. I had asked for directions, but the directions that they gave me were lousy. I pulled into a parking lot to try to turn around because I thought that I was going the wrong direction (I was), and I said that I wished that I had my Bloomington-Normal map. My mom pulled one out of her purse--total win by my mom. I figured out how to get there, and we pulled up with less than 5 minutes to spare, but they took care of us, and I have the rental car for another week.
Then we drove to Lincoln (where I work). We took a quick car tour of the campus at the college. (My mom said that she'd like to take a closer look "when it's warmer". Hey, it was a balmy 20 degrees F.) We went to WalMart to return the little tree that I bought before I bought the big one. We wound up with more stuff than I expected, including another bottle of the really good Muscato and lots of food. We grabbed a bite to eat at Arby's and headed back.
I was feeling really tired during the drive back, so I promptly took a nap when we got home. After I got up, I spent the evening looking through the stuff from the Civic in search of my Champaign-Urbana (where we're going tomorrow) map, and found that everything from the car was there except the map. I'm hoping that Mapquest will give good directions and that I can pick up a map while in C-U. My mom wants to go to Mass tomorrow, so I printed out information about the Catholic churches in the area.
That about sums it up. Despite the tree and pile of presents, it doesn't really feel like Christmas. Merry Christmas to those that celebrate it, "and to all a good night".
