Things Breaking My Way for a Change
Jan. 10th, 2014 04:45 pmThe power went out at work around 11:30 AM. I decided that was a cue to go get lunch and found a place that had power. After I came back, though, the power continued to be out. We hung out and groused about how silly it was to hang out in the dark, but the college was officially still open. The Library Director said that I might as well go home if I couldn't do anything, and he and the Circulation Clerk would staff the library. I hung out for a little while longer, but decided that staying was silly. I'm taking a class on Acquisitions using our new library system in a couple of weeks, and it would be useful to read a book that I have about it before the class. The neat trick will be finding which box has the book.
I had ordered a couple of books for one of my classes from Amazon.com. They weren't here when I came home (although I was kind of glad that they weren't out in the rain) and I wondered how I was going to do homework without them. Ten minutes after I got home, the doorbell rang, and it was UPS with the package. Now that's service.
The cats might be having a delayed reaction to their boarding experience. Zara refused to go over to me when I got home, and Harlee is still hiding in the closet. (It's a good day for sleeping though, and I would have certainly slept in if I was a cat.) Oh well, they'll bounce back.
