Grand Illinois Trail

Apparently there's a trail in Illinois (made up of a bunch of smaller trails) that is over 500 miles long and extends from Chicago to the Mississippi River. I didn't know that. It doesn't have quite the cachet of the Appalachian Trail (or the Pacific Crest Trail) though. Not that I'm hiking the full length of any of them anytime soon....

There's also a trail that extends the length of the Mississippi River. That would be pretty cool.
