All of the webinars and books that I'm reading about productivity say to get your place physically organized, and you'll find that you'll have more time. So I'm working on the office, a.k.a "Command Central". (It actually is the room that I spend my waking hours in the most.) One webinar said to take everything out of the room and bring in only the stuff that you want, which I can't quite do because I need room for my boxes, but I'm trying at least to keep that in mind. One thing that I bought that I already love is a BIG dry-erase wall calendar for the office. I already have the library and Younique conferences written on there, and plan to write in events at which I'd like to sell. Etc. It helps me psychologically because it figuratively asks me, "How are you going to spend this new year? And what are you going to accomplish?"

I'm starting to plan for the big library conference in S.F. in June. I submitted my poster presentation proposal on Friday, so we'll see what happens there. I'm starting to figure out travel arrangements. The conference days, of course, are fixed, but I also want to spend a couple of days in the South Bay and take the train back from or over there, stopping in Reno to see my dad. I'm starting to play with the "moving parts". (It's annoying that the conference starts and ends midweek, so it's tough to take advantage of weekend fares. But I still should look at airfares on the prior Sunday.) I've already learned that it's cheapest to fly from Peoria rather than Bloomington or Springfield. And it's cheaper to fly to San Jose or Oakland rather than SFO; I prefer SJC because I'm familiar with it, and could take CalTrain up to the City. I'm also learning that I either have to get up obscenely early or get in really late. (I'm not exactly surprised about that.)

I've also registered for a one-day Younique "boot camp" in Kentucky in March. It would be great to talk to other people about what works and doesn't work.

Tomorrow is the "Charter Day" ceremony at the College; it was chartered 150 years ago. We need to robe up and march in the ceremony. There will be a talk by a Lincoln scholar, so that should be interesting. And it will get me moving at a decent hour.
