days_unfolding: (flower opening)
I'm finally getting caught up at work. I needed to reload the data in our library system because we had some "dirty data": patrons with two ID numbers, patrons with two barcodes, etc. I had intended to get it done last week, but it carried over to this week because of everything that was going on last week, and the semester has started. The pressure was on (I'm tensing up just writing about it!), and we had one patron who wanted to check out a book but couldn't, but it's done now. (Sigh of relief.)

We've gotten some good things done at the library. Students have asked to be able to buy some office supplies at the library, and that's set up. I asked one of the part-timers to make a sign about how to print only one page or a selection of pages in Word because I've seen students print out a 10-page paper to check one change. Another part-timer is working on collecting some data for me. And I'm feeling a lot calmer now that I'm getting caught up. (Well, having the other librarian leave has helped too. His stress was contagious, and he kept on asking me what I'd do in various horrendous scenarios.)

The one down side is that there is a brewing issue about picking up the library's recycling. No, I'm not kidding. A new company wants to charge us $30 plus gas per pickup, which could add up quickly. So the new guy has been hounding me to set up a schedule, while I've had to explain to various people at the college that someone HAS to pick up our recycling because we have students working on papers in our computer lab. I keep forgetting how much management has to do with the truly trivial.

I'm glad that it's the weekend -;) Today, however, I had a reaction to one of my meds. I take niacin to lower my cholesterol. My skin flushed, which looks and feels like a sunburn, but that's happened before. But I felt so dizzy that I thought that I was going to pass out, which hasn't happened before. I'm feeling better, but still a little shaky, so I'm working on tasks that I can do sitting down. Speaking of which, I have four people who have asked for Monat samples so far, so I'm feeling good about it. And there's an event coming up in Lincoln in September that I want to work. I'll probably do Younique though.
