I've got the University of Illinois' Krannert Center and Illinois State University's Center for the Performing Arts bookmarked and liked their Facebook pages. One thing that I like about living in the boonies is the cost of living. The concert tonight was $20. (I was in the cheap seats, but I still had a good view of the stage and could hear well.) Krannert Center's concerts are $10 (and some are free). Not sure about ISU, but the prices are probably comparable. I can only imagine how much a similar concert would cost in Chicago.

Both Zara and Mimi were in the kitchen because I was in the kitchen. They seemed to be getting along okay, and I was thinking that they finally are learning to coexist, when Mimi ran at Zara, hissed, and smacked her. Sigh. However, I have been letting Zara out of the bedroom at night now, and they aren't fighting (or at least, not fighting loud enough to wake me up), so that's progress. Part of the problem is that Zara wants to be friends with Mimi--Zara tried to groom Mimi the other day, and Mimi was having none of it--and Mimi is interpreting it as aggression.

I'm giving it until the end of the month. If nothing has improved, I'm going to talk to the vet about putting Mimi on meds temporarily while she and Zara work it out. (Zara, on the other hand, does need meds all the time because she's stressy.) I hope that it would help.

Mimi: You're standing where you make my treat [canned food], and I hear dishes rattling. Are you going to make me a treat?

Me: No, Mimi, I'm washing the dishes.

Mimi: But I'm hungry!

Me: You ate your treat earlier. You're not hungry. You're a little piggy!

Mimi: But if I'm a piggy, I should eat, right?

Me: No.

Mimi: Rats.
