Making Ties
May. 4th, 2016 12:55 amI had thought about going to the United Church of Christ church in Lincoln. But what I really want to do is join a Unitarian church. I looked at the ones in Springfield and Bloomington. The Bloomington one takes a hiatus for the summer, although it has informal gatherings. The Springfield one has some interesting sermons listed. Just now, I looked at the ones in Peoria and Champaign-Urbana, which are a little farther afield, but still possible, and they look interesting too. (Most Unitarian churches look interesting.) Maybe I should start visiting the various churches to see which has the best vibe for me. The challenge is convincing myself to get up early on Sunday. I'm no longer scheduled on Saturdays at the Humane Society, so I could use it as my "sleep-in" day.
On Facebook, there was a picture of a poodle sitting at the computer with the caption, "I told her that I was a pit bull". It got me looking at some dating sites. But before I could date anyone, I really need to get this place organized, so I think that's my goal for the summer. We work only a 7-hour day during the summer, so there would be five extra hours each week that I could apply to the place, plus vacation time if I stayed home. I also have been visualizing how the place would look if it was organized, and it seems to be motivating me.
I'm taking Friday off because I worked on Sunday, and I'm counting the days. The extended hours at the library during the week before finals went well, but left me beat. I can't believe how much coffee the students drank; on Sunday, they were drinking two pots an hour!
