If you have never been on a cruise and want to see what a cruise ship is like, here's a Google Street View of a ship

Cats

Mimi and Zara seem to be getting along better at a glacial pace. But I do see progress. I still keep them separate when I'm at work though. I am concerned that Zara has dropped two pounds though. For a cat, that's a lot, and she was at a good weight to begin with. I feed her canned food separately from Mimi plus give her dry food, but Mimi has been known to eat the dry food if I don't keep an eye on her.

Harlee worries me a little. She is painfully thin, but is eating. She has mostly stopped grooming herself, so I've been brushing her, which she doesn't really like. However, she still loves being petted and tells me off if I'm not playing attention to her when she wants me to pay attention to her. I'm watching her very closely to see if she needs to go to the vet.

Cruises

I love the fact that I can research cruises and it qualifies as constructive work. Fun! I never thought of myself as a cruise person, but lying by a pool has its merits. Whenever I go on my first cruise, I want to have enough money to get a massage and spa treatment because relaxing is kind of the point of a cruise, isn't it? (Well, I suppose that it's different if you have kids.) My first cruise is likely to be to Bermuda on one of the few ships that have accommodations for solo travelers. Huge ship, but I suppose that would give me a better idea of the cruise experience.

I've been looking for a good cruise database online. There's one that is kind of what I'm looking for, but it's very limited. Maybe I should create one, but talk about a lot of work! (OTOH, it would be good for me to learn PHP and MySQL.)

My mom is in the hospital. She got something that looked like a bite on her chest, and then she had little red dots all over her. She had a doctor's appointment, and they discovered in her blood work that her platelet count was dangerously low, and they told her to go to the hospital. They've been giving her transfusions, which have been helping. They're not sure why her count is so low. It might be that she got bitten by something nasty, like a brown recluse (she does lots of gardening, so that's plausible) or it could be the chemo pill that's she's on for her blood abnormalities (multiple myeloma). She sounds good; I just talked to her for an hour and a half. I wish that I was close enough to visit her, but she said that talking to me was entertaining. I hope that they figure out why this happened soon.

My dad's wife recently had a heart attack too.

This day is brought to you by the letter O, the letter Y, and comfort food (waffles!)
