Helping Someone
Sep. 28th, 2016 12:07 amI have a friend who lost her home and moved in with her boyfriend. The boyfriend has decided that he wants her out, and gave her a 28-day notice to leave. She has no savings. She also has a dog and a cat that she won't give up (and I can understand that). She has a couple of part-time jobs, but not really enough to live on. Her boyfriend is unstable and abusing her emotionally, and no one knows how much that will escalate.
How would you help her? Someone created a gofundme page, and I'll give some money (although I don't have much to spare). She sells Mary Kay, so I plastered her link all over Facebook. I volunteered to help her pack on the weekend after next. I'm three and a half hours away from her, so I can't come over a lot. I gave her some info about housing prices in Central Illinois, in which she probably won't want to live, but I personally think that she should get out of there no matter what it takes. I really don't have the room to take her and her cat and dog in (plus I don't know what the landlord would think). I feel awful for her, but I don't know what to do.
As for public services, she has investigated them, and they're for families with kids.
