I fell asleep last night with the lights on. I woke up around the time that I was supposed to get up. I had a sense of foreboding when I first woke up (maybe because I hadn't taken my antidepressant last night?) I checked my e-mail, and my boss said that the front desk worker was out today, and my boss had a dental appointment in the afternoon, and could I come in a little early? Luckily, I had woken up early enough to pull that off. I made it in at the requested time. It turned out that the front desk worker had to put his dog to sleep, and that's why he wasn't in. I felt sympathetic because I know when Harlee goes, I'll be a total wreck.

When I was bringing stuff out to my car when I was about to leave work, someone in a car went "Ahhh aaah". It didn't sound like a scream, and I paid little attention, thinking that it was some kids messing around. But as the car pulled away from me, I heard a thud like someone was shoved into the side of the car. No, I didn't get the license plate number. I hope that person is okay.

Zara fell asleep next to me when I came in to say "Hi". I stayed there for a long time because I didn't want to wake her, but eventually I did.

My skin is itching like crazy. I do have eczema, but usually it's localized on my left hand. I don't have the heat on. It's driving me crazy.

I was able to pick up a butternut squash during dinner, so I can stay home tomorrow unless I have to bring a book up to the Normal campus.

I wound up sleeping until 3 PM, which is later than I intended. I checked my e-mail, and I didn't need to bring a book up to Normal, which I was (selfishly) glad about.

But Mimi was fighting with Zara non-stop today. I was eating breakfast, and was telling Mimi to quit fighting with Zara between bites. I tried to lie down after breakfast, and Mimi was in the bedroom fighting with Zara. I decided that Mimi was hungry, so I gave them their wet food. Then I closed the gate with Zara and me in the bedroom, and closed my eyes for a nap.

Then Zara started bounding around the room. Bounce--she's on the bed. Bounce bounce--she's on the cat tree. Bounce--she's by the window. Well, Zara does need time to play, but I had to laugh at the timing. But then Zara took a nap, and I caught a few zzz's.

Now I'm up, and Mimi was fighting with Zara again. Zara is in a climbing mood, and was on top of the filing cabinet in the office. Mimi is watching her. Sigh.

I'm about to eat some lasagna. I have a webinar at 7, but should be able to cook chicken breasts as part of the prep to make my chicken salad.

I've made the chicken salad for next week. All hail the mighty food processor, without which it would have taken MUCH longer.

Question--I want to make butternut squash soup in the crock-pot tomorrow. [Interruption to break up a cat fight.] The recipe says to cube the squash, but could I put it in the food processor instead? It'll break it up into smaller pieces.
