Free Classes
Oct. 24th, 2016 01:41 amI'd like to take programming classes for career growth, but I can't afford to take classes at the local community college (which isn't really local, so I'd need to factor in the cost of gas unless I take online classes) right now. There are programming classes on Coursera, but they've started charging for them as well, and I can't afford that either.
However, I found a series of classes on program design that I can take for free on EdX, so I'm plunging into that. After I'm done or at least farther along in the class, I want to buy a Python crash course book that is highly recommended. There also is an intro to programming book using Web programming that I'd like to work through.
My goal is to become a decent Python programmer by the end of the school year. Anything that I learn about Web programming would be icing on the cake.
I don't know if my mom will be able to come for Thanksgiving, and I don't think that I can afford to go there for Thanksgiving or up to Chicago for Christmas, so that would give me lots of time to work on programming. I've also signed up for Rescue Time, which tracks the time you spend on Web sites, to keep me from spending a lot of time on Facebook.
However, I need to log off soon and get up early because my lousy phone camera requires lots of light to take a decent picture, and I want to take pictures of items that I want to sell.
