YAP! (Yet Another Project!)
Nov. 1st, 2016 12:38 amYay, I get paid tomorrow. But I've managed to squeak though on limited funds.
The girls have calmed down from my being gone.
Yes, my ever-loving project mind has come up with a new project. A long time ago, I wanted to go to Saint John's College, which is a college with a curriculum based on the "Great Books" of the Western canon. (My dad vetoed my going there.) I recently got interested in reading the Britannica series of the "Great Books" because a book that I'm reading referenced some of the authors. I found an online book group that reads and discusses a book a month, and I want to do that (and think that it's doable).
However, Saint John's College has a Master's Degree in the Eastern Classics (think of Confucius, the Bhagavad Gita, etc.) That really got my juices flowing. There's no way that I could enroll for a degree, but I grabbed their reading list, and have been requesting books. (I love the fact that I can get books from the large universities in the area because some of these books are kind of obscure. I haven't run across a book that I haven't been able to find yet.) I also found an online free set of classes on the history of China. I'm going to use this as a carrot: if I do a certain amount of cleaning and organizing, then I can do work on this project. So, hey, sounds like fun anyway. And it's FREE!
