Cincinnati?
Jan. 11th, 2017 12:13 amThere's a regional library conference in Cincinnati for technical services librarians (librarians who work in the back room of a library as I do). Well, they extended their search for presenters for the conference because not enough people have sent proposals. Today, they sent a e-mail saying that there was 20 slots open, then 17...I said to my boss that it's the closest I've ever seen to a conference begging for presenters. So I figured that I had a good shot, but what to present? Then I thought of our "weeding" project (choosing books to withdraw from the collection). Our system was based on a system that we used at the previous library that I had worked at, and I knew that a librarian there had given a webinar about the weeding project. I fired off an e-mail to her, and she's very interested in presenting with me. I'm working on a proposal (assuming that we have travel money in our budget, which my boss is going to check tomorrow). Wish us luck!
I also thought of a poster presentation for the big annual library conference, which is in Chicago this year. I couldn't attend both conferences for the entire time, but I could dash up to Chicago, do the presentation, and come right back down to Lincoln. It can be hard to get accepted though. We'll see.
All this thinking has tired me out :) The apartment management sprayed for bugs this morning, so I had to get up early, although I did go back to sleep for a while. I want to go to sleep soon.
