The Evening News
Feb. 5th, 2017 02:02 amTalked to my mom, and she's doing pretty well. She was concerned about my getting scratched by the neighbors cat and about my washer, but I reassured her. I forgot to ask her what was happening with the trip with her friend. Ah well, there's always next week.
Did my shopping. I did get the frame for the poster. I also found a floor lamp for $8 (yes, you read that right) for Harlee's room. The lamp that I have in there is a special "daylight" lamp with a special expensive bulb. I don't know what I was thinking when I bought it. The new one takes a normal three-way bulb. I'm sure that it's plastic, but that's okay. I'm not trying for great style in that room.
Just had something to eat and read part of the New York Times (online, I get a cheap subscription because I'm in education). Was disgusted by some Trumpites insisting that the movie Hidden Figures couldn't be accurate. The racists are coming out of the woodwork.
Then I read an article about the Marais district in Paris. Looked for a hotel in the area, and found one with a single room for $98 a night. For Paris, that's pretty good. All I need is the money :) I've been across the river in the student area near the Sorbonne, and have seen Notre Dame, but that's about it. I can still read French, but speaking it would require a crash course.
Need to crash soon so that I can get up early and use the food processor to mince the onion and garlic, and chop the broccoli, for my quiche.
