We're in a mini-crisis at work. The front-desk worker's mother-in-law was taken to the hospital with problems breathing. Meanwhile, we don't have anyone to cover for him tomorrow morning. (I could get up at the crack of dawn and open, but then I wouldn't get lunch.) I asked a part-timer if she could cover the morning, and she said "Yes," but we don't have extra money in our payroll fund. I e-mailed my boss's boss, but she hasn't responded. What a mess. In my mind, that's a good reason to not completely drain payroll, but it wasn't my decision. I haven't heard back from the front-desk worker yet on whether he needs time off. I'm going to wait until 9 PM, and then ping him.

Otherwise, my corned beef hash, eggs, and toast for dinner tonight was delicious, quick to make, and cheap. I think that it would cost $8.00 in a restaurant, but it cost me around $0.60. Definite win!

I found a photography class on Coursera that's relatively cheap, and doesn't require a DSLR. I'm going to take it. I've always wanted to study photography, and it will help me with the blog.

The front desk worker said that he'll be in tomorrow. I'm glad that things are going well enough for him to feel that he can come in, and also that I don't have to make an executive decision to overrun payroll. If we can just get to July 1st, then we'll be in a new fiscal year, and it shouldn't be an issue. But I'm well aware that crises happen at the worst possible time.

Added: Oh, and I joined a Facebook group led by a blogger who has been faithful about walking his 10,000 steps every day. It should be motivating.
