Bach Performs Miracles
Feb. 1st, 2018 11:40 pmWoke up early, so I guess that I'm feeling better.
Bought the guitar.
The weather forecasters had predicted temps around 50 F, so I left with a light raincoat. It took me a little while to realize that no, it was much colder. It turned out to be 27. At that point, I had already gone back in once to retrieve my phone, so I left with the lighter coat. I retrieved my parka during dinner. It's supposed to go down to 6 degrees tonight.
I was listening to the Bach Brandenberg Concertos while I was doing a mindless task, and I was listening differently to it. It's hard to explain, but I was hearing all the individual parts that went into it rather than having the whole thing wash over me. For example, I was listening closely to the oboes--I love oboes--and noting the violins that responded to the oboes, etc. I hadn't previously realized that there were oboes in the first concerto. It was pretty cool, whatever it was.
Work was work-like. I did talk to my boss about ordering more books given that it's February already. He said to go ahead and order books.
Glad that it's the end of my week.
Practiced guitar again tonight. I had forgotten how much I love the sound of my classical guitar. It has such a warm tone to it.
