I'm on a Roll

It's cooled off a lot. Awesome. Turned off the ceiling fan in the bedroom. Amazing how much better I feel when it's cooler.

 

Kitty Drama: Zara bolted into the living room after using the litter box, and Mimi ran after her. I told Mimi to cut it out.

 

We had a flock of birds in the front yard. Kitty TV. Mimi was watching intently.

 

I had garlic bread and soup for lunch. Mimi jumped on my lap, took one whiff of my hands, and jumped off of my lap. Everyone's a critic :)

 

Chipping away at homework. I'm doing a lab with four parts.. Did Part 1 last night and Part 2 just now. I'll do Part 3 when I need a break from cleaning.

 

I've been finding that I want time to sit and veg out. I read an article about how we're losing that kind of time due to our phones (she said, typing this into a phone). That kind of time tends to be creative time.

 

Cleaned the kitchen and bathroom. Watched The Crown. Emptied a box of stuff and part of another box.

 

Talked to my mom for over two hours, which probably is a record. It looks like my aunt won't need surgery (though she'll find out for certain next week), so my mom won't have to go to Chicago.

 

Need to do the last installment of my homework, and then I'll go to bed.

55+ Communities

I'm feeling a little lethargic this morning.

 

Zara's trying to take back the kitchen. She jumped from the back of the kitchen chair to the shelf by the window, and looked out momentarily. Then she jumped back onto the back of the chair, which always amazes me because she lands so perfectly. She'd make a good gymnast.

 

I read an article in an old AARP magazine about The Villages, which is a large 55+ community with every activity you could possibly imagine. It's in humid Florida, so it's probably not for me, but it is affordable. HOA fee of $145, and small houses are around $120K. I'll have to keep it in mind though. 

 

If I decide that I want to do something like that, I should look at Sun City in Arizona. Drier, although the summers would be beastly. Sun City actually looks promising, although they don't have housing listings. They have a variety of places from condos to duplexes to detached homes. Found housing listings, and they're in the realm of reason. They also have some rentals, although I don't know if they'd rent to someone with pets. 

 

Found another really cool place in Florida. Too bad I don't want to live in Florida, though I wonder how humid it is in winter. I've been to Orlando in winter, and I don't remember it being too bad. One advantage to Florida is that I like to spend New Year's Eve at Epcot.

 

Why are a lot of the exercise classes in these places at 7:30 or 8 AM? These people are retired! Personally, I'm not planning on getting up before noon (although these days, I usually wake up around 10 AM).

 

Forgot to mention yesterday that my mom is intrigued by upstate New York. When I go there, she might want to come with me.

 

Chopped an onion in the food processor for the tuna casserole that I want to make later tonight. The onion got its revenge. Tears are pouring out of my eyes.

 

Dropped some stuff off at the thrift shop before work. Go me.

 

Work was like work. Nothing interesting to report.
