Mom's Visitation

I've been walking around--I want to say listening to the house, but that's not quite right--absorbing the house. And pondering what I want to take and how I could possibly take it all back. I want most of my mom's framed posters; she had good taste in art, plus there are a couple that I gave her. There's a table with writing in French on it that I've coveted for years (that will be my new dining room table), and a lamp on it. There are two rattan chairs. And a giant, expensive blender that her best friend gave her if she doesn't want it back.

Zara vanished early on and didn't poke her nose out for food, so she must be asleep in some cubby hole somewhere. Mimi promptly ate Zara's food as well as her own. (I rolled my eyes.) Now Mimi has vanished too. Well, they had a rough couple of days. Zara was upstairs! No wonder that she didn't hear the food can. I bumped into her in the dark. She doesn't understand that it's tough for me to see a gray cat in the dark. She has excellent night vision; why don't I?

I figured that the cats would reemerge when they got hungry. They did.

I called in sick this morning because I think that I need more sleep. Had a nice nap.

Mimi is fascinated by the basement because I have a gate in front of it. She tried to go down there when I went through the gate, but I was able to stop her.

Well, I did it. I went to my mom's visitation and, yes, she's dead. I talked to her a little while but there's only so much you can say to someone who doesn't respond. Afterward, I decided that food would be a good idea, so I stopped at a branch of a coffee shop chain that I frequented when I lived here.

Picked up a prescription on the way home but I really needed to use the washroom so I didn't go to the grocery store. I think that I'll submit a delivery order.

Zara greeted me, and she wants food.

Took a nap and woke up at 1:30 AM. I'm going to have something to eat, submit a grocery order, and go back to sleep. And feed Mimi. I was hoping that Zara would show up to be fed, but it seems that only one of them will show up to be fed at a time.
