Day 9: St. Mark's Square
Jun. 10th, 2024 02:43 pmWe met bright and early to go to St. Mark's Square. Two vaporettos were full and went by. Finally, we took one in the opposite direction and stayed on until it came back around. We toured St. Mark's Basilica and the Doge's palace. Then we were on our own for lunch. I had a really good lunch at a nearby restaurant. But I had to leave to meet the group and the waiters kept on dragging things out. No, I don't want dessert and yes, I need the check.
The group then went on a gondola ride. I passed on it because it was too touristy. I hung out and watched them maneuver the gondolas. Pretty amazing.
Then we went to a glass-blowing demonstration, which was pretty amazing. Then they gave us a tour of their showroom. Most of the items were way beyond my price range. However, I really needed a watch because my phone runs out of power early if I have been taking pictures. I need a way to tell what time it is to meet the group. So I bought one with a Murano glass circle on it. I love it.
We took the vaporetto back. I ran to the grocery store to get some soda and water. They also had a lemon Italian soda that sounded interesting that I thought that I'd try.
Worked on my post. I went out in search of a bookstore that I swear that I saw, but couldn't find it. Had dinner.
Now I think that I'm going to wind down. We're getting another early start tomorrow.
Urgh. I'm getting a headache so I'll post the pictures tomorrow.
