Day 5: St. Lucia and Birthday

I overslept and threw myself together. I thought that I was okay because I thought that we were meeting at 10:30. But I doublechecked and--wait a minute, it says 9:00! It was 8:25, so I canned any plans for breakfast and flew out of here. Then, of course, I waited a long time. Finally, a guy asked me if I was waiting for his tour, and I said, "Yes," so off we went. The roads were twisty, turny, and bumpy. One guy asked if there were barf bags. I was extremely glad that I hadn't eaten.

Back from St. Lucia. The island is beautiful, but the tour was too long. (Especially the last stop, the point of which seemed to be to route us through a gift shop.) I do want to come back. But the roads suck and also they drive on the left, so I’d need a driver.

By the dock, I had seen a bag that said St. Lucia all over it. But I really have no use for it except as a beach bag, and I use my backpack for that. So I talked myself out of it. I finally bought a magnet in the shape of St. Lucia with a picture of the Pitons on it.

Hmm. Holland America has a quite reasonable Panama Canal cruise. And it’s the “old folks” line, so probably there will be less partying?

Napped. Had dinner. I found where they hide roasted vegetables.

When I got back to the room, I discovered that they put a "Happy Birthday" banner above my door. That was nice.

I need to do some hand washing for the end of the trip. It's time to start thinking about it (three more days).
