I think I'd like Danbury best overall, except if groceries and cat supplies were difficult to get or if traveling to and from work was too stressful and time-consuming. This is ALL the hard stuff! Jobs! Moving house! Commuting! Blech. :( It's weird that the 2 beds are less costly, too. Maybe less square footage overall?

I have good memories of waking up on cold mornings in San Diego, my mom setting our school clothes out near the fireplace to warm them. The house is inland, in a valley, and the desert in the winter does get to the low 20s which feels just as cold to me as some of the Chicago weather I've experienced. It's true, I do love the smell of wood burning and the feeling of warmth next to a fire. But the maintenance! Oy! And cats sometimes explore up chimneys, so that always worried me. But, I'm a worrier. *snort*
