A Brief Stint as a Library Director

days_unfoldingThe other librarian gave notice today, so I'm going to be the acting library director until we hire someone. They offered me the position, but I turned it down because 1) that's not what I really want to do and 2) I think that any library director at this college will be fighting an uphill battle. (My mom thinks I'm crazy for turning it down.) I should get an opportunity to re-align my job to acquire new skills though. I spent today writing a job listing for the new library director. Nothing like hiring your boss!
Even if we hire as quickly as possible, it'll take months to hire someone. So essentially, I'm going to be trying to do two jobs when school starts in two weeks. Some things aren't going to get done....It's definitely a comfort food night. Too bad that I don't drink....
