Associates' Degree?
Mar. 30th, 2017 01:19 amI talked to an advisor at Heartland Community College. She said that most of the computer classes won't transfer to four-year schools, but I might take them anyway to get programming practice. The question is whether I want to pursue an Associate's Degree or not. There are a few more bureaucratic hoops to jump through, but most of my gen-ed requirements would be covered by my B.A. I would be eligible for scholarships and financial aid. (Although I'm not thrilled to add to my debt. I am interested in scholarships.) If I'm taking the classes, though, I might as well pick up the degree. I don't see much of a down-side to picking up the degree; there's one class that I'd have to take that I otherwise would not take. That's about it.
I'm going to think about it. I don't have to take any placement tests to get started, though, because they are transferring in my math classes. They just want me to meet with an advisor before I register.
I talked to the Illinois Quit Line, and they want me to go through my insurance company to get patches. I checked, and they won't cost me anything, but apparently, I owe the mail order pharmacy money, so I need to wait until I get paid to ask them to ask my doctor to okay the patches. The Quit Line folks provide a lot of support though, including weekly calls.
