The lesser of two evils
Mar. 15th, 2002 12:38 amI'm in a dilemma.
Today, the construction workers got here late. Random was even more relaxed this morning, and was gamboling at my feet, happy that things were normal. I relaxed also, and took my time getting myself together, instead of taking a shower and dressing in a mad rush in case the workers need to access my unit. A few workers arrived outside around the time I got into the shower, and Random went into the living room to listen to them.
When I got out of the shower, whatever the workers were doing sounded like a long groan-creak. The sound would be perfect for a haunted house or for the "Pirates of the Caribbean" ride in Disneyland. It occurred to me that Random was probably freaked.
I went into the living room, and sure enough, Random was nowhere to be found. I checked all his favorite hiding places, and couldn't find him anywhere. I finally looked under my bed, and two round eyes stared back at me. I didn't try to get him to come out, figuring that if that's what it takes for him to feel safe, that's what he should do. He did come out briefly to say hi to me, which moves me, but dove back under the bed again.
I don't know what to do. I hate the idea of him spending every day stressed-out under the bed. I'm considering boarding him, but that's stressful too. I can't tell which is the lesser of two evils in a cat's eye view. I'll try calling the vet to see if they will give me advice. I can't think of what else to do.
