The Gift of Time
Aug. 4th, 2002 03:16 pmI'm still here. Things are busy at work (one project is wrapping up at the same time that the books for the other project are going out for review) so I don't know how often I'll be online.
I'm mulling over what "taking care of myself" means in that context. I've been bitten by the movie bug lately (finally saw Star Wars before it left) and wanted to see Minority Report. However, the friend with whom I was going to go see it wasn't feeling well. I planned to see a "backup movie" by myself, but changed my plans at the last minute to run my normal weekend errands (WalMart and grocery store). Why? I decided that I was overloading Sunday. On Sunday, I needed to do some stuff for work (including going in for a while), laundry, vacuuming, plus the errands if I didn't do them on Saturday. The kicker is that I needed to drop my car off at 8 AM Monday morning to have it looked at, so I needed to get to sleep early on Sunday.
I think that I made the right decision. Still I wonder if the gift of time or the gift of escapism is more important.
