Cruise Day 3: Puerto Vallarta
Dec. 30th, 2025 08:26 pmI’m thinking of trying a Bahama Mama (rum, orange juice, pineapple juice, and grenadine). Maybe after lunch after the shore excursion tomorrow.
The towel animal gets around. I had put it on the other side of the bed from the side that I’m sleeping on. They put it on my side of the bed. I put it on the other side. Then it vanished, and I was sad. But I found it sitting on the couch!
Woke up at 5:30 AM. The hot water in the shower is out, sigh. I guess that I'll take a shower after the shore excursion (and lunch). I'm waiting for my room service breakfast. It was okay, not great. I dropped the tray trying to get it out in the hall when I was done. My neighbors must love me. Then the dining room called to make sure that I got my order. I don't think that anyone, even me, a notorious heavy sleeper, could sleep though that.
l have an hour to kill before we dock. We got in early.
Back from the shore excursion. There was more walking than I had thought, but I managed. I liked the Malecon and Old Town. But the tour bus went to two different places where rich people lived, and I don’t care how they live. Also, we spent a long time in a jewelry shop. I fell in love with a fire opal ring, but I didn’t have the money for it. Later, when we were STILL in there, I was idly looking at some jewelry for something to do. A guy asked me if I wanted to try anything on, and I said that I don’t have money in the budget for jewelry. He said, “But we take credit cards,” and someone on the tour with me said, “But you have to pay the credit cards off,” and I said, “Exactly”. So I came back without jewelry, which I consider a moral victory. I resent the idea that the purpose of tourists is to separate them from their money. (We had to walk through a bunch of shops to get back to the ship too.) The tour lasted over four hours, which I thought was too long. I wanted lunch!
A guy on the tour saw my cane-with-a-seat and said that he needed to get one of those. I used the seat a lot.
Went straight to lunch and knocked back some trout, mashed potatoes, and cheesecake. It’ll hold me until dinner.
Puerto Vallarta might be worth another visit.
Crashed out cold for a couple of hours. The hot water is still out. Had dinner (steak, mashed potatoes, corn, and apple pie). I want to get to bed early because there’s another shore excursion tomorrow morning. Part of it is “shopping,” so I don’t know what I’ll do then. If the Aquarium (the other part of the trip) has a t-shirt, I might get one.
One of the guys working the bar (where I get my Diet Cokes) knows me by name. He says, “Adrienne, how ARE you?” Kind of nice.
Here we go (leaving Puerto Vallarta). Crud, I forgot to post pictures. I'll do that in a separate post.
