I want to recognize the 9/11 anniversary in some manner, but I still haven't decided how. San Jose is having a ceremony and concert in the early evening. Oakland is having a candlelight vigil, which resonates, but requires a drive through heavy rush-hour traffic.

The most important action, of course, is stopping and taking inventory of the past year. Most of my plans to gain community through getting involved in more activities and doing more volunteer work (mostly) didn't happen. I hadn't anticipated that my illness would make it so difficult to interact with new people. I could do more volunteer work, though, after we ship this project.

Speaking of community, Terry, thanks so much for the link to Dave Barry's column about 9/11. After reading that, I decided that I should definitely go to the ceremony downtown even if it isn't exactly what I had in mind. Perfection isn't the point. Participating in a community ceremony might very well be.
