I hope not
Oct. 13th, 2002 07:19 pmOh shit.
A few times this week, I was woken up by pain in my wrists and elbows. I just thought that I slept too long and didn't think much of it. My hands really hurt on Friday, when I did a lot of driving. Yesterday, I had problems making certain types of motions, such as lifting things. (Oddly enough, I don't have problems typing.) Today, my joints have been rather painful.
Rheumatoid arthritis runs in my family. My dad has it, and my great-grandmother on my mom's side had it. My dad told me that doctors can do more for it if they diagnose it early, so when I saw the doctor for my osteoarthritis, I asked her what symptoms would indicate rheumatoid arthritis. She said it usually starts in the hands and wrists, and the pain is worse in the morning. Sounds like my symptoms except I don't have a lot of hand pain, just a little in the first row of knuckles. Also, a web site said that loss of appetite is a symptom, and I've had a weird loss of appetite over the last couple of days. All I want to eat are the cheese-and-peanut butter crackers that I've unfortunately gotten hooked on.
Yes, I know, I need to see a doctor. I'm just not sure when I can fit it in.
Wish me luck.
