I don't think we're in Kansas anymore
Nov. 11th, 2002 04:20 pmI'm in Austin after what would have been an uneventful flight except that the person sitting next to me's coffee spilled all over me.
I was startled by how different the terrain was from any that I know. It's kind of spring green dotted with trees and rivers. It's tough to describe the difference, but it looks very different from, say, Iowa, even though they both have green, trees, and rivers.
Austin seems to run like a well-oiled machine. Maybe too well. I expected a little more funk--though the downtown area seems to have it--and not a place that feels a lot like San Jose or Dallas.
